"Modeling, Design and Optimization of Dual Brushless Machines BDFx" (BDFRM: Brushless Doubly-Fed Reluctance Machine and BDFIM: Brushless Doubly-Fed Induction Machine).
BDFx is considered an interesting alternative to the Dual Feed Asynchronous Machine (MASDA) in high power renewable energy systems such as variable speed wind turbines or dams. Like the MASDA, they allow the use of a reduced power converter with regard to their nominal powers as well as the reduction of the maintenance costs due to the brushless operation. The presentation will focus on the particular functioning of the BDFRM and BDFIM as well as their design and optimization.
Lauric GARBUIO received the M.S. degree from Ecole Normale Superieure de Cachan, Paris, France and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering in 2006 from the Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse, France. Since 2010, he joined the Electrical Engineering Laboratory of Grenoble (G2ELab) in France as associated professor. His current research interests include the conception of new electrical systems (transformers, motors,… ) and new micro-grid solutions with high penetration rate of renewable energy.
